We’ve been very fortunate to have a great group of clients for many years. While each client is unique there are a few commonalities that might help you determine if you would also benefit from our services.
Most clients are either women above the age of 45 or couples married for more than 20 years.
Most clients are fairly conservative investors that place a high value on the safety of their investment plan and less emphasis on taking high risk in an effort to generate maximum return.
My clients are highly successful in their chosen fields and seek guidance in life logistics, life planning, major transitions i.e., death, divorce, retirement and/or financial coordination.
Most clients are successful, family-oriented, community-involved people with a life purpose that far exceeds just money and personal belongings.
We are fee-only financial advisors that proudly act as a fiduciary for our clients. This means we have a legal obligation to put clients interests before our own in all recommendations we make.
Each client receives a custom life and money management plan geared towards their unique life goals and objectives. We build these plans around life events such as retirement, wealth transfer, business succession planning, and asset protection. My specific area of expertise is in life management and cash flow planning; though I have a great team with unique expertise in tax planning, investment management, and risk management.
As is hopefully evident by our blogging activities, we communicate regularly with clients via technology (email is my preferred communication medium). My experience is that it is very difficult for financial advisors and investment managers to actually perform their job if they are continuously looking for new clients and doing everything themselves. As such we have built a staff of specialist that have specific roles and responsibilities to ensure our advisors spend the majority of their time with you. We block one week of each month just for doing meetings with advisors/partners for case design and use the other 3 weeks each month for client reviews, life coordination sessions and research for the client's benefit.
We visit with each client up to four times per year and provide unlimited email support between meetings. Some of my clients are local to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area where we have offices. However, many of our clients are from all over the United States and we work together virtually using web conferencing as well as phone and email to regularly communicate.
Our firm has a wonderful support staff that makes phone contact simple and easy anytime it is needed. Although I’m typically the person that answers the phone or performs phone-based support, one of our team members will be more than capable of addressing your concerns.
If you’re the type of person that likes to talk frequently via telephone with me personally that is no problem. We can set up phone appointments for our meetings.
All clients have 24/7 secure online access to their accounts. My firm and partners invest heavily in technology to provide clients with real-time account alerts and monitoring to ensure all planning is done at the time it is needed, rather than the reactionary way many advisors provide support.
We use a simple,value-based pricing model: a flat fee for life coordination and money management. In almost all cases the planning fee is just $2,500-$7,500 and comes with a 100% satisfaction guaranteed or you pay nothing. For clients who want ongoing help managing their investments, fees are based on a combination of percentage of assets under management and life management services. For asset management, we strive to keep costs as low as possible, so clients can keep more of their returns (the way it should be). When we manage accounts it is done so via an independent custodian and we never (ever) take custody of client assets. This is important as it protects investors from fraud and theft. It also ensures I never make a commission for transactions since I am not a representative of any financial custodian. Most of our client's assets are held with either TD Ameritrade or Fidelity Institutional though we have the ability to work with others if the situation calls for it.

Most importantly we feel that clients and their advisors must get along and work as a team. A great life requires a series of small choices (remove great) and knowing that financial planning and investment management doesn’t work overnight. It takes time, patience, and trust.
We’ve done the best we can at structuring our work and services in a manner that gives clients personal attention and financial management support. I know there is always room for improvement and we always strive to get better at what we do each day. Our uncompromising promise is to take the thousands of hours of research we do each year and leverage it to benefit those who place their trust with our firm.
Due to advancements in technology we have the ability to work with investors all over the United States (as briefly mentioned above). We have a wonderful web-based virtual meeting program that allows us to work with clients in a very personal manner despite being hundreds or even thousands of miles apart.
